Rodware Component Windshield

It is tough to improve on a classic.

But that is exactly what Rodware has done. Veteran rod builder and Bonneville racer Dick Rodwell, and buddy world renowned automotive sculptor Stanley Wanlass have pooled their talents and designed a radical new windshield for 1932 Ford roadsters.

Other than the tops of the doors and the tops of the hood sides, there are no straight surfaces on the contours of a '32 roadster body.

Rodware Posts

This windshield sits on the original cowl eyebrow and echoes the same slant visually lengthening the hood and cowl. Unlike many aftermarket windshields, the Rodware windshield allows the all important cowl vent to be retained in its original position.

The windshield's highly polished 304 stainless steel frame is slightly curved to match the subtle radius of the '32's body. Due to the angle air is pushed up and over the windshield. This blending of function and form gives new aesthetics to a traditional design, the aerodynamics allowing travel at highway speeds with minimal wind buffeting to the driver and passenger.

Had the technology to manufacture curved safety glass been available back in 1932, Deuces might well have been designed with slightly curved windshields to better match the overall design of the rest of the car.

You get used to looking at these windshields and then look at any other '32 windshield made with flat glass, and it looks like a compromise. Rodware Stanchions And that's exactly what the original windshields were.
